Who Is She That Cometh Forth As The Morning Rising?
The 7th Sorrow of Our Lady: Jesus is Laid in the Tomb
Many Mystics have said that the Life of the Church will mirror the Life of Our Lord Jesus Christ. If we take as our starting point the Annunciation, which was the Conception of both Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church in the Womb of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, the Ark of the Covenant, we can proceed as follows. The gestation period of Our Lord Jesus Christ was nine months. The gestation period of Holy Mother Church lasted through the life of Our Lord, His Public Ministry, His Passion, His Resurrection and Ascension, and ended with Her Birth on Pentecost Sunday. Since the gestation period is nine months, or three quarters of a year, each year of our Lord's life will correspond to 44 years in the life of the church. That gives us 1452 years.
Now, surely the progress of the mystical passion of the church was arrested during certain glorious eras. Such must have been the time of St Vincent Ferrer, for example, and the time of St Francis of Asissi. The Apocalypse intimates this: "And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven, as it were for half an hour."
One might suggest that "Public Ministry" of the Church began with the Councils of Florence and Trent, and that "Holy Week" for the Church began with the glorious cycle of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, which corresponded to the triumphal entry of Our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. And the Passion of the Church began with Vatican II and the promulgation of the New Mass. And the Crucifixion of the Church took place when Pope Benedict "retired" and we got the "pontificate" of Pope Frantic. And, any moment now, we can expect Holy Mother Church to die, and the World will say that the Gates of Hell have prevailed. And the perfidious will mock, just as they did Our Savior upon the Wood of the Holy Cross.
And those who have forgotten Fatima, and not cultivated devotion to the Immaculate Heart, but are rather fixated on Pope Frantic turning the Lateran into a brothel, will be like the Apostles on Easter Sunday Morning- faithless despite being given all the signs.
The Apostles were given plenty of warning: "Then Jesus took unto him the twelve, and said to them: Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things shall be accomplished which were written by the prophets concerning the Son of man. For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and scourged, and spit upon: And after they have scourged him, they will put him to death; and the third day he shall rise again." [St Luke, Chapter 18, Verses 31-33] "Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death. And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked, and scourged, and crucified, and the third day he shall rise again." [St Matthew Chapter 20, Verses 18 and 19] "Saying: Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests, and to the scribes and ancients, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles. And they shall mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again." [St Mark Chapter10, Verses 33 and 34].
And while the Evangelists excuse the Apostles somewhat, not so Our Lord: "But [Jesus] rising early the first day of the week, appeared first to Mary Magdalen, out of whom he had cast seven devils. She went and told [the Apostles and Disciples] that had been with him, who were mourning and weeping. And they hearing that He was alive, and had been seen by her, did not believe. And after that He appeared in another shape to two of them walking [on the Road to Emmaus], as they were going into the country. And they going told it to the rest: neither did they believe them. At length He appeared to the eleven as they were at table: and He upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them who had seen him after he was risen again."
Holy Tradition has it that Our Lord actually appeared first to the Mother of Sorrows. And some of the Fathers- and this Wolf- believe Our Lord actually appeared in His Glorious Form to Our Lady on that Holy Saturday Morning, to comfort her who alone kept the Faith Alive as Her Heart burned before the Tabernacle that had been forsaken by all the faithless Apostles.
Let us remain with Our Lady in the Cenacle, and pay no heed to all the moanings and groanings of the world, the pastors, and those immersed in the noise of a million devils. Just as God appeared to Elias on Mt Carmel in a gentle breeze, so shall we at length perceive the gentle warmth of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart.
