Most people that truly commemorate the Advent Season are probably familiar with two hymns- the Rorate Coeli and "O Come O Come Emmanuel". Some even know where the latter Hymn comes from- the Seven "O Antiphons" that are (hopefully) sung at (hopefully solemn) Vespers from December the 17th to the 23rd Inclusive. And this year, as we are obviously counting down the days until something happens to Al Asqa Mosque and the Israelis rush in to rebuild their Temple, from whence will appear the Man of Sin, this Wolf thinks it would be appropriate if every Traditional Chapel worth its salt would have an hour of adoration every evening, where all 15 Decades of the Most Holy Rosary are recited, followed by solemn vespers before the Most Blessed Sacrament, where available. Now, it is probably way too hopeful to presume that the Slothful, if not Sodomitic, Gourmands who preside over Traditional Catholic Chapels can bring themselves to muster enough zeal to fulfill this humble suggestion, but certainly fathers who are serious about the salvation of those entrusted to them can prostrate themselves in their own homes before Our Lady of Fatima and commemorate these days in an especial manner. After all, we had better step up our proverbial game if we hope to conquer what St Paul termed "The Strong Delusion".
The First of the "O Antiphons" reads as follows: "O Wisdom, Who didst come out of the Mouth of the Most High, reaching from end to end and ordering all things mightily and sweetly: come and teach us the way of prudence." "Wisdom", obviously, is the Holy Ghost, and Prudence is one of His Gifts. Our Lord, in His famous discourse recorded by St John, had a lot to say about the Holy Ghost. In particular, that "He will convict the world of sin, and of justice, and of judgment." Our Lord also said that "But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you." Further, in that selfsame discourse, Our Lord said: "But when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of Himself; but what things soever He shall hear, He shall speak; and the things that are to come, He shall show you." In short, the Holy Ghost is the preserver of Tradition. We must practice silence so we can hear Him speak, because He infallibly instructs in the Deposit of the Faith, once for all delivered to the Saints. But wherever we hear novelties, changes, and alterations, we can be absolutely sure this is another spirit, and not the Holy Ghost.
"O Adonai, and Leader of the house of Israel, Who didst appear to Moses in the flame of the burning bush, and didst give unto him the Law on Sinai: come and with an outstretched Arm redeem us." The House of Israel is not a country in Palestine, but the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. We are not commemorating His coming in the flesh, but rather longing for His Coming to overthrow Antichrist, and, at the very least, His Strong Spiritual Coming to inspire men in places of authority to overthrow the Spirit of the Antichrist, at least for our time.
"O Root of Jesse, Who dost stand for an ensign of the people, before Whom kings shall keep silence, and unto Whom the Gentiles shall make their supplication: come to deliver us, and tarry not." We should at least hope to be delivered from the Spirit of the World, the Concupiscence of the Flesh, the Concupiscence of the Eyes, and the Pride of Life. We should pray for the Institutions of Our Holy Mother the Church to be delivered from the clutches of the current coterie of Satanic Pederasts. Nor should we entertain any delusions concerning our present predicament, which can only ultimately be solved by fulfilling the requests of Our Lady of Fatima.
"O Key of David and Sceptre of the house of Israel, Who dost open and no man doth shut, Who dost shut and no man doth open, come and bring forth from his prisonhouse the captive that sitteth in darkness and in the shadow of death." If we are living in sin we are truly captive. But, more appropriately for our circumstances, we should pray that the complete message of Our Lady of Fatima be promulgated far and wide, and do all we can to add to that chorus. The faster men understand the absolute seriousness of what Our Lady of Fatima foretold, and adopt the fervent recitation of the Most Holy Rosary, the faster will the world see true and lasting peace.
"O Dawn of the East, Brightness of the Light Eternal and Sun of Justice, come and enlighten them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death." Our Lord in His eschatolical discourse avowed: "If therefore they shall say to you: Behold he is in the desert, go ye not out: Behold he is in the closets, believe it not. For as lightning cometh out of the east, and appeareth even into the west: so shall the coming of the Son of man Be."
The Last Two of the "O Antiphons" have a very similar plea: "O King of the Gentiles and the Desired of them, Thou Cornerstone that dost make both one, come and deliver man, whom Thou didst form out of the dust of the earth." "O Emmanuel, our King and Lawgiver, the Expected of the Nations and their Saviour, come to save us, O Lord our God."
That Second Coming Might be a lot closer than we think. And. rather than being a harbinger of "Gloom and Doom", its prospect should warm our hearts.
I only pray 10 decades because the additional 5 were added by JP2, a participant in V2. I’m actually considering taking my Catholic faith back to Nicea, or at least backward to before the Great Schism of 1054. I ❤️ St John Chrysostom.
