Just in case you have been living under a rock- not a bad place to be these days- back in mid-December Pope Frantic gave his approval to "Blessings of Same Sex Couples". Well... that IS what the document said.
About a week later, an African Bishop denounced this act in no uncertain terms.
Then another, and yet another bishop, gave their rejoinder. Then whole bishops' conferences rose to contradict the Vatican decree.
The Vatican, meanwhile, doing some apparently frantic damage control, issued a statement saying that what Pope Frantic did changed nothing concerning the Catholic Church's Traditional Teaching on Holy Matrimony. (Not that what passes for "Holy Matrimony" amid Annulment-O-Rama and the Holy Theology of the Body NFP Style in the Conciliar Church is the Traditional view on Catholic Marriage, but the Pope-Explainers seem to have forgotten that.)
So, is this the long-awaited counter-revolution against the "New Springtime" of Vatican II? Hold those horses, Partick Henry, and keep that powder packed. And we are a long way from donning those proverbial party hats.
Let's get one thing clear right from the start. UNTIL we see people seriously doing penance, seriously trying to keep the liturgical year, seriously living up to their marital commitments, and seriously disengaging themselves from the "popular culture", we have no right to be optimistic. When the sports stadiums and the movie theatres are empty, and the churches are filled a half hour after Holy Mass with people making a Thanksgiving, then this Wolf will START to be optimistic that real relief is on the way.
The "Crisis in the Church" is not going to be solved by political demonstrations or bishops pounding the pulpit. It is only going to be solved when a significant proportion- say, about 10%- of Catholics really start to take Our Lady of Fatima seriously.
In the meantime, let's entertain the possibility that we are being played.
What Pope Frantic has given the bishops is a wonderful opportunity to show their flocks how "Catholic" they now are. These are the selfsame bishops, mind you, who have done nothing about the accelerated decay of the church over the years, and this includes Africa too. (Look at pictures of how Africans used to dress and how they dress today.)
This is how the revolution rolls, folks. Two steps forward and then one step back. And so what this Wolf expects to see is a "conservative" Novus Ordo Church prevail over the Rite of Sodomy- for now. Don't get any delusions, folks. The Rite of Sodomy is not going anywhere, especially, it appears, in Germany. No, rather this appears to be a sifting out process to see where the centers of determined resistance still are.
Are the African bishops in on it; are they just playing their appointed roles in the drama? Some undoubtedly are. Others might be useful idiots. Who is to say? The only thing that is clear is that most of these bishops would flunk theology. Ask them what the Mass was and most would undoubtedly say it is a Happy Meal.
And so, the Catholic Sheeple will be applauding their Conservative Novus Ordo Church. It will still give "Communion" in the hand. It will be rife with "annulments". It will pray the "Luminous Mysteries" of the rosary. It will approve the devotions of "The Divine Mercy". Yes, Michael Matt, they are on our side. At least they won't be sacrificing babies to Moloch. (At least not openly.)
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us. You are our only hope.
