First off, this Wolf is not going to go into the Weeds of whether Bishop Ito, Fr Yasuda, Sister Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa, and "the sisters" (who all, apparently, remain anonymous) were perpetrating a fraud. Rather, he is going to peruse the simple public facts, and compare that to the message of Fatima.
Since the statue of "Our Lady of Akita" is the center of most of the "miraculous events" which were allegedly seen by dozens at various times (though no documentation exists) let us start there. This statue of "Our Lady" with the Cross in the background was sculpted by a non-Catholic, Saburo Wakasa, who described his work as from "the same piece of wood, so there are no joints... The wood from which I carved the statue of Mary was very dry and rather hard." His sculpture bears a striking resemblance to a painting made in 1951 by artist Heinrich Repke, of "Our Lady of All Nations", an "apparition" to Ida Peederman of the Netherlands. One may be excused for speculating that was his inspiration.
"Our Lady of All Nations" has a short prayer which is as follows:
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now Your Spirit over the earth. Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of all nations, that they may be preserved from degeneration, disaster and war. May the Lady of All Nations, who once was Mary, be our Advocate. Amen."
Bishop Johannes Huibers, gave his approval (nihil obstat) to the prayer, despite the fact that on May 7th 1956, following on a careful examination of the case concerning the supposed apparitions and revelations of "Our Lady of All Nations", he had declared that he found no evidence of the supernatural.
My question for this prelate is: Why could you approve a prayer containing the phrase: "the Lady of All Nations, who once was Mary"? A boatload of degrees in theology should not be needed to see how this phrase is utterly problematic six ways from Sunday. Charles Darwin would be blushing.
Before proceeding, let us recall the opening words of Our Lady of Fatima on the apparition of Friday, July 13th: "You have seen hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart." So, how many times do the words "Immaculate Heart" appear in the "messages of Akita"? The answer is an absolutely flat "zero".
Now, let us compare the chastisement Our Lady of Fatima warned about with that of Akita. At Fatima, Our Lady said that: "Russia will spread her errors throughout the world, bringing new wars and persecution of the Church; the good will be martyred and the Holy Father will have much to suffer; certain nations will be annihilated." At Akita Our Lady allegedly said: "It will be a punishment greater than the Flood, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead." In the context of an earlier message, this punishment is directly inflicted by God the Father.
Once again, this is not rocket science. The glaring contradiction between the message of Fatima and that of Akita should be self-evident. Now, this Wolf understands that the ways of God are mysterious beyond all human comprehension, but God is not illogical, nor does He expect us to suppose that something can be and not be at the same time. Either Russia is going to be the instrument of the scourge, or it is not. Meanwhile, Noah's Deluge wiped out ALL of mankind, with NO SURVIVORS. Now, at the end of time, as per St Peter, the world shall be consumed in fire, and everything will be reduced to ashes. But that immediately precedes the General Judgment on the Last Day, not the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart.
In her message of July 13th, 1917, Our Lady of Fatima intimates that God is going to punish the world by means of war, famine, and "persecution of the Holy Father". This Wolf has long speculated that all three of these will be the fruits of our own obstinacy and impertinence as human beings. In other words, these punishments will be self-inflicted by the human race upon itself, because it shall have forsaken the Prince of Peace. At this point in the development of "Modern Civilization", not much imagination is required to see how a breakdown of even communications could quickly cause a catastrophic chain reaction throughout complex infrastructure to cause those "long roads and fields full of people, crying because they have nothing to eat", seen by Little St Jacinta which St Sr Lucia admonished her not to talk about, because it was part of the Fatima Secrets.
Some have argued that the "fire from the sky" is a nuclear holocaust. But that is absolutely not stated in the "message of Akita". That is pure speculation on the part of the advocates of "St Agnes".
Before closing, let this Wolf remark that he has the greatest respect for the Japanese Catholics. They persevered in the faith for over two centuries with neither priest, mass, nor pope. All they had were the sacraments of baptism and Holy Matrimony. But they kept their Faith alive by devotion to Our Lady and recitation of the prayers of the Most Holy Rosary after Japan recused herself from the world shortly after the time of St Francis Xavier. (This Wolf believes they were a harbinger of things shortly to come.)
All of that being said, let us stick to Our Lady of Fatima, Lourdes, La Salette, and Guadalupe. These Apparitions have indisputable hallmarks of the Supernatural, evoke Our Lady as our Queen, Mediatrix of All Graces and Co-Redemptrix. They neither diminish her exalted dignity as Daughter of the Father, Mother of the Son, and Spouse of the Holy Ghost nor do they distort the Eternal Procession of the Triune Godhead.
Our Lady of Fatima did not come to give us an "update" on Salvation History. She came to confirm us in what had already been revealed by St John on the Island of Patmos, and what Our Lord Jesus Christ had revealed to the Apostles, and what the Major and Minor Prophets had revealed to Judea, and what Moses had written down for the Israelites.
Those of you out there trying to synthesize a whole bevy of "Apparitions" and "Private Revelations" so that you can have the "inside scoop" on "coming attractions", please stop. Start with the Tradition and the Writings of the Fathers. Then proceed cautiously to erudite exegetical tracts on the Sacred Scriptures. And, as per Saint Paul, be not blown about by every wind of doctrine.
The more one studies Fatima, the more one sees how it is relevant today more than ever. Meanwhile, all these other "signs and wonders" are nothing but fonts of confusion that suck souls into advocating for certain cults and make demigods out of various "visionaries". To say nothing of all the horrendous solicitation of contributions for dubious campaigns.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us. You are our only hope!
